The proposals for 344-350 Old Brompton Road will reflect the varied local character of the area and the unique location of the site itself as the gateway into the wider Earls Court Opportunity Area.

Our proposals will consist of connected blocks of three, four, five and eight storeys above ground. We believe this will sit well within both the existing townscape and the context of anticipated future development of the wider Earls Court Opportunity Area.

The architectural design for 344-350 Old Brompton Road has been informed by its setting and the different characters that surround the site. For example to the east we have a residential character at Eardley Crescent, however to the west we have the more public character of the station and the wider Earls Court Opportunity Area.

As such (and reflecting feedback received from stakeholders) we have sought to accommodate both, adopting a more traditional residential ground floor frontage and lower building height to the east and a more vibrant mixed use frontage with additional height to the west acting as a marker building for the location of West Brompton Station and signalling the gateway to the Earls Court Opportunity Area.

The desire for a reflection and recognition of the local character was a recurring theme during our conversations with stakeholders and is something we are keen to embrace through the use of local material palettes and landscaping, for example creating an end piece to Eardley Crescent that is sympathetic to the architecture and materiality of the Crescent. The building line to the east has also been brought back to align with the facades of Eardley Crescent.

We have sought to preserve neighbouring amenity as much as possible within the site constraints and respond to local feedback, with a reduction in the height and bulk of the north wing ensuring that good light is retained into the gardens and windows of neighbouring properties.

The taller elements are planned towards the corners of the site, away from the residential windows to the rear of Eardley Crescent.
